I am not a doctor; I'm not even a nurse, nor do I have any formal medical schooling. What I am is a mom whose child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 20 months old. I have spent every day since August 30, 2008, thinking about diabetes.

C is under the care of a pediatric endocrinologist, and any treatment we use with her has been discussed with and approved by her doctor or a Certified Diabetes Educator. My husband and I do what works for our child after years of trial and error, but never without a doctor or a CDE knowing about it.
